ZOÉ - An Immersive Science Fiction Poem in the Post-Anthropocene
Wat als mensen, technologieën en ecosystemen met elkaar konden spreken? Wat als de planeet zelf verhalen kon vertellen? Als stenen stemmen hadden, landschappen konden ademen en de grenzen tussen soorten begonnen te vervagen? De muzikale performance ZOE verbeeldt een speculatieve toekomst waarin het podium verandert in een levend landschap en een actief systeem van ontmoeting. Elektronische muziek, stem, lichamen en ruimte vormen een niet-lineair, multisensorisch web van menselijke en meer-dan-menselijke perspectieven. ZOE is een sciencefiction-gedicht voorbij het Antropoceen — een polyfoon narratief over het voortdurende ontstaan van de aarde en de levensvormen die zij voedt.
Het nieuwstedelijk maakt deel uit van ‘Future Narratives for Planet Earth’ - een Europees netwerk van theaterhuizen die samenwerken om nieuwe verhalen te ontwikkelen over de relatie tussen mens en natuur. Het belangrijkste doel van het project is om de toekomst opnieuw te zien als een ruimte vol mogelijkheden. Binnen ‘Future Narratives’ worden 7 nieuwe theaterstukken gemaakt die in Leuven gepresenteerd worden op Shakespeare is dead.
What if humans, technologies, and ecosystems could speak with one another? What if the planet itself could tell stories? If stones had voices, landscapes could breathe, and the boundaries between species began to dissolve? The music performance ZOE imagines a speculative future in which the stage becomes a living landscape and an active system of encounter. Electronic music, voice, bodies, and space form a nonlinear, multisensory web of human and more-than-human perspectives. ZOE is a science-fiction poem beyond the Anthropocene — a polyphonic narrative of the Earth’s ongoing becoming and the life forms it sustains.
Het nieuwstedelijk is part of “Future Narratives for Planet Earth” — a European network of theatre houses collaborating to develop new stories about the relationship between humans and nature. The project’s main goal is to reimagine the future as a space full of possibilities. Within “Future Narratives,” seven new theatre productions are being created, which will be presented in Leuven at Shakespeare is dead.
