Een kind in het midden — slapend, stil.
Daaromheen een koor dat zich wijdt aan het naderende ritueel:
het kind moet worden geofferd, de rede moet het winnen van het mededogen,
de gemeenschap moet worden gered door het offer.
Dan ontwaakt het kind. Het spreekt, het stelt vragen, het beschuldigt:
Wat is de waarde van een samenleving die gelooft dat zij voor haar voortbestaan
de brute uitsluiting van anderen nodig heeft?
Waar komt de drang vandaan om samenleven te organiseren als een volkstuintje?
Vanuit een archaïsche, fundamentele situatie werpt Arad Dabiri een blik op de huidige staat van humanistische waarden in de wereld.
Rijk aan associaties voert de tekst langs mythen zoals die van de Hof van Eden,
om te laten zien dat de mens pas zal slagen in het scheppen van een aards paradijs
wanneer hij dit vreedzame oord voor zich ziet als een plek voor iedereen — zonder grenzen.
LEVEN, LIFEHAYAT!
LEBENLIFEHAYAT! is een lang gedicht,
een langverwachte kreet van protest in een wereld die al in brand staat,
maar waarin ook de vonk van hoop is ontstoken,
waarin de zoektocht naar toekomstige verhalen al is begonnen:
een nieuw begin, een frisse start, een herstart.
Het nieuwstedelijk maakt deel uit van ‘Future Narratives for Planet Earth’ - een Europees netwerk vantheaterhuizen die samenwerken om nieuwe verhalen te ontwikkelen over de relatie tussen mens ennatuur. Het belangrijkste doel van het project is om de toekomst opnieuw te zien als een ruimte volmogelijkheden. Binnen ‘Future Narratives’ worden 7 nieuwe theaterstukken gemaakt die in Leuven gepresenteerd worden op Shakespeare is dead.
A child in the center, asleep, silent. Surrounding it is a chorus that swears itself to the impending ritual: The child must be sacrificed, reason must prevail over compassion, the community must be saved through sacrifice. Then the child awakens. It speaks, questions, accuses: What is the value of a society that believes it needs the brutal exclusion of others for its continued existence? Where does the urge to organize coexistence like an allotment garden come from?
From an archaic, fundamental situation, Arad Dabiri offers a glimpse into the status quo of humanistic principles in the world.
Rich in associations, the text leads through myths such as the Garden of Eden to demonstrate that humans will only succeed in creating an earthly paradise if they imagine this peaceful place for everyone, without boundaries. LIFE, LIFEHAYAT!
LEBENLIFEHAYAT! is a long poem, a long-overdue cry of protest in a world that is already burning, but in which the spark of hope has also been ignited, in which the search for future narratives has also begun: this is a new beginning, a fresh start, a reboot.
For all people aged 12 and over who are curious about future narratives and visions for the world.
Het nieuwstedelijk is part of “Future Narratives for Planet Earth” — a European network of theatre houses collaborating to develop new stories about the relationship between humans and nature. The project’s main goal is to reimagine the future as a space full of possibilities. Within “Future Narratives,” seven new theatre productions are being created, which will be presented in Leuven at Shakespeare is dead.
